Deli items are a favorite of mine. I went to one of my favorite delis recently. The lady behind the counter was slow to wait on me, never smiled and was constantly looking around like she did not want to miss anything happening outside of the deli. This left me annoyed.
When you are waiting on a customer focus on the customer! And, smile and be friendly.
Smile and be personable! Show some enthusiasm. I had a clerk fill a prescription for me, but he was a pill. He did not smile-once. He was efficient at his job, but he did not make me feel welcome. I felt like I was an imposition.
Please make everyone feel glad they dealt with you. Be friendly-even if you don't feel like it but be sincere.
I recently had some cavitities filled by a new dentist. When the dentist stepped out for a moment her assistant said, "Isn't she great?" What a nice thing to say. It reassured me that I was in good hands.
A simple statement like this reinforces I made the right decision. How can you make a statement like this to support your team and make your customer feel better?
As I shopped for groceries (I like to eat) literally about ten store employees walked by me without acknowledging I was even there. I am the one paying their wages, so a simple "Hi" and a sincere smile would be nice. To just walk by me is poor customer service. It made me feel like I was not important. Better yet why not say, "Hi, thanks for shopping with us today."
Please show your customers that you are glad they are there. Do NOT just walk by them.
We may not be able to meet over a cup of coffee, but I would love to hear your stories about good or bad customer service. Please email me at seasonedhelp@gmail.com
