Would you want to approach this guy? Be welcoming and happy to see everyone. We have all worked with grouchy people and it sucks the joy out of us-IF we let it. Be positive and let your face show that you are glad to see everyone.
I worked with someone who disliked two co-workers and it really showed. She was short and hyper critical of everything they did. It negatively affected our whole team. You don't have to love every co-worker, but you do need to work with them harmoniously and support their contribution to your organization. If you don't, you won't be around long just like this person.
Being chronically late is rude to your supervisor and your co-workers. I worked with an excellent employee that was never on time for work. A cut in pay and numerous negative performance reviews didn't do it. All it took was leaving home 10 minutes earlier. It put ever one in an awkward position. Why would anyone want to create a headache for their supervisor? PLEASE be on time every day for work. Also, be on time for meetings, webinars and appointments. Be responsible and dependable.
It should not have to be said, but do NOT steal or borrow from your employer or co-workers. BE HONEST. In my career I experienced a teller who just 'borrowed' from her cash drawer, an employee that copied confidential files, someone punching a time clock for someone else, a grandson who stole his grandparents credit cards, someone who just' borrowed money from his bowling league, etc. The point is: BE HONEST and ETHICAL at all times!
Have you ever had to wait for co-worker to end a personal call? I did and as her boss I was not pleased. Remember, you are at work to work, NOT take care of personal business. Do it on your lunch hour or when you are on break.
Someone also was caught spending an hour playing games! Put your phone away and only look at it on your own time.
When you are at work-work! If you don't you are not helping yourself.
